Guy is a highly versatile woodwind musician, performing on saxophone, oboe, clarinet and flute across an array of genres.
He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, receiving scholarships from the Guildhall and from the Countess of Munster Trust, and was selected as a finalist in the Guildhall’s woodwind competition, the Needlemakers’ Prize.
He has appeared on BBC television and MTV with artists such as Bastille, Paul Weller/London Metropolitan Orchestra and London Contemporary Orchestra, and performs across the UK and Europe with groups and artists as varied as the Britten Sinfonia, Icebreaker, Public Service Broadcasting, Opera North, Paraorchestra, Erland Cooper, and the London Symphonic Rock Orchestra. His playing can be heard on the Paul Weller album True Meanings, on Hannah Peel’s classical chart-topping collaboration with Paraorchestra, The Unfolding, and on her acclaimed album with poet Will Burns, Chalk Hill Blue.
In theatre, Guy performs extensively both in the West End and on UK tours, with past shows including Hello Dolly (West End), Crazy for You (West End), Anything Goes (Barbican), Falsettos (The Other Palace), Aladdin (West End), Macbeth and Midsummer Night’s Dream (Blenheim Palace), Shrek (UK tour) The Grinch (UK tour), Fun Home (Young Vic), Gypsy (West End), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK tour) and Wonder.land (National Theatre).
Guy is also a founding member of the award-winning chamber quartet Kaleidoscope. Since its creation in 2009 the group has built an extensive repertoire spanning four centuries of music, and has performed widely, with highlights including appearances at the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Purcell Room, as well as the Festival d’Auvers-sur Oise in France. The group has won numerous awards from organisations including the Hattori Foundation, the Tunnell Trust, the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Park Lane Group, and released their first CD Oil in 2016 with support from the City Music Foundation and the Help Musicians Emerging Excellence scheme.
