Performing

Guy is a highly versatile musician, performing on a variety of woodwind instruments across an array of genres including classical, rock, pop, musical theatre, jazz and folk.

He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying saxophone but also learning clarinet, flute and oboe. Whilst studying he received scholarships from the Guildhall and from the Countess of Munster Trust, and was selected as a finalist in the Worshipful Company of Needlemakers Woodwind Prize.

Guy freelances on saxophone, clarinet, flute and oboe across a wide range of genres. His oboe and clarinet can be heard on the Paul Weller albums True Meanings and Fat Pop Vol.1, and on composer Hannah Peel’s acclaimed collaboration with poet Will Burns, Chalk Hill Blue. He has appeared on MTV and BBC television with artists such as Bastille, Paul Weller and the London Metropolitan Orchestra, and performs across the UK and Europe with groups and artists as varied as the Britten Sinfonia, Icebreaker,  Erland Cooper, Paraorchestra and the London Symphonic Rock Orchestra.

In theatre, Guy performs extensively both as a dep and on longer contracts, both in the west end and on UK tours, with past shows including Falsettos (The Other Palace), Aladdin (west end), Macbeth and Midsummer Night’s Dream (Blenheim Palace), The Grinch (UK tour), Fun Home (Young Vic), Gypsy (west end), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK tour) and Wonder.land (National Theatre).

Guy is also a founding member of the award-winning chamber quartet Kaleidoscope. Since its creation in 2009 the group has built an extensive repertoire spanning four centuries, and has performed widely, with highlights including appearances at the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Purcell Room, as well as the Festival d’Auvers-sur Oise in France. The group has won numerous awards from organisations including the Hattori Foundation, the Tunnell Trust, the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Park Lane Group, and released their first CD Oil in 2016 with support from the City Music Foundation and the Help Musicians Emerging Excellence scheme.
